Every week, we collect and feature the outstanding submissions to our gallery. If you're looking for quality literature to read, start here!

Each item is hand-picked by our admins and presented with a small introduction (we think this makes browsing literature easier). We don't seek perfection: we just choose interesting work and share it for critique, appreciation and encouragement.

Weekly Round-up! Come and get your Weekly Round-up! We've got DRUGS! We've got REJECTION, ROMANCE and SURREALISM! We've got HUMAN SOULS TRAPPED IN THE COLD STEEL OF MECHANISED KILLING MACHINES! Get it while it's hot, here comes your Weekly Round-up!

This Week's Highlights

:star:

The Skin that Binds Us by Meeoko

A long-buried past resurfaces when two perfect soldiers, terrifying fusions of man and machine, are brought in on the same contract.

Humanity struggles against professionalism and programming in this fascinating story. It's an excellent mixture of backstory and character development, driven by strong dialog and complex history between the two main characters.

Curate's Egg by PursuingTheCerberus

A poetic reaction to something we all dread: rejection letters. Or, as the author puts it, "grenades in my mailbox".

PursuingTheCerberus has recently announced the publication of his second poetry anthology. We don't know how he manages to keep in touch with the community, help build these Round-ups, AND produce high quality poetry. But he does, and he's been doing it for a while now. This is a well-earned feature for an excellent piece of poetry.

A Vulture Picks the Bones by raspil

Nina's got a plan. She dresses, argues with her partner, holsters her guns, and heads out into the darkness. She's going to score tonight.

In a sharply authentic short story, raspil does a great job of humanising the "bad guy". For a long time, there's a stong sense of discomfort as we shadow the protagonist's shady movements. But there's a reality - a believability - to the characters that makes the reader empathise with, if not condone, their actions.

From the Archive

We love our old deviations just as much as our new ones. From time to time, we like pull out an old gem that's been lost in the depths of our gallery and feature it in this space.

The Tell, Chapter One by Bark

Since we've got a little bit of everything in this Round-up, we thought we'd end with a delicate slice of surrealism. It's not for everyone; but those who can thread meaning from this dark, sombre allegory will be richly rewarded.

Community News

:bulletblack: January's Write Off is now finished! Congratulations to DamonWakes for his victorious The Nutcase Suite.

:bulletblack: LiliWrites, the glorious queen of Daily Literature Deviations, has published the results of her DD Suggestion Drive! It was a great success. If you missed it, or have been reading our editorials on Daily Deviations, why not make it an aim to suggest a DD this week?

Mini Bonus Feature!

We normally like to keep our Round-ups as short as possible - we don't want anyone to feel like we're forcing a reading list upon them  But we couldn't resist including this six-word bonus feature, as a special nod to the Valentine's fun that's abounded this past week. Thanks for the chuckle, AkashasDreamworld!
