Every week, we collect and feature the outstanding submissions to our gallery. If you're looking for quality literature to read, start here!

Each item is hand-picked by our admins and presented with a small introduction (we think this makes browsing literature easier). We don't seek perfection: we just choose interesting work and share it for critique, appreciation and encouragement.

This Week's Highlights!

:star:

You've Got To Hide Your Love Away by Meggie272

An unassuming, coming-of-age story. The voice and flow of which is sure to pull you in and keep you reading to the wonderfully surprising ending.

Ogre Prince by TheMoorMaiden

There's a problem with the Ogres. Their beloved prince Samson, son of Princess Acedia (better known as 'Sleeping Beauty') has gone missing. It falls to Rose Red's capable hands to find the wayward child before a problem becomes a crisis.

This is a charming, humourous and cleverly crafted fantasy short story, very much in the style of Shrek. TheMoorMaiden has woven Grimm's fairy tales together into a rich tapestry here.

Ashes and Turpentine by JJ-Lit

A tie between art and violence.

Community News:
:bulletblack: Our friends at Word-Smiths have published a great Journal on the subject of rejection. Sooner or later, all writers will be rejected - whether by a friend who didn't like a particular piece, or a publisher who didn't want to take it on, or just a group on dA who have turned down a submission. Rejection, sadly, is a fact of writing - but it's often not the author's fault. This great journal offers both advice and encouragement for writers new or old. Highly recommended reading!

:bulletblack: It's hi-fives all-round as Glow-Stick-Empire's lovely short story Me, You and Shoes (as featured in our recent Round-up) received the ultimate accolade: a Daily Deviation! Wowsers!

:bulletblack: It's been a very good week for our clever, clever writers - we've several :icondailylitdeviations: to announce!

:bulletgreen: AzurEmerald's thought provoking story Branded (DLD link)

:bulletblack: Literature Scout Magnius159's story The Forgettable Girl
(DLD link)

:bulletblack: The ever-popular poet celery-soda's piece Vocalize (DLD link)

:bulletblack: Finally, NoOneSpecial75, for the Round-up featured story Flying (DLD link)

Phew! Did we miss anything? If one of your pieces in our gallery has received a DD or DLD recently, send the group a note and we'll feature you in this space!
