On a literal level, the poem is about a person being shot by a bullet, collapsing to their knees and finally into the dust. A pilot sits at the top of a Ferris Wheel, enjoying the pure, high atmosphere, so close to the clouds he treads daily in his jet. But at his side, the girl he loves remains bitterly silent for more reasons than a fear of heights.

Picking the Writer of the Month is never an easy task. But as January's feature took a different approach, we've basically had to pick this month's featured writer from two month's worth of community activity: a daunting task. While those months have seen a quiet patch around Christmas, they represent some of the highest activity that the group has seen. Several members have stood out as wonderful contributors.

This short story is driven by a charming, absorbing first-person narrative. It's just impossible not to like Tate and his battle with awkwardness; and it's very hard to pull yourself away once you start reading. The second chapter maintains the high standard set here and develops the story nicely.

Each item is hand-picked by our admins and presented with a small introduction (we think this makes browsing literature easier). We don't seek perfection: we just choose interesting work and share it for critique, appreciation and encouragement.

Werewolves are popular creatures for good reason. They can be powerful, barely restrained creatures, and Ben knows this better than most.

This richly descriptive work can be enjoyed in its own right for its well crafted story and superb use of language, but if you're looking for a new ongoing story to read in 2013 then ~TeknicolorTiger's The Monster of Amber Peace is definitely one to consider.
