Weekly Round-up!

Journal Entry: Mon Jan 7, 2013, 9:53 AM
Every week, we collect and feature the outstanding submissions to our gallery. If you're looking for quality literature to read, start here!

Each item is hand-picked by our admins and presented with a small introduction (we think this makes browsing literature easier). We don't seek perfection: we just choose interesting work and share it for critique, appreciation and encouragement.

Our first Round-up of 2013, and may there be plenty more to follow! Let's open the new year with a celebration of the following literary works that have attracted our attention over the last few weeks.

Recent Highlights!

Dried Orchids: (Spaghetti Western) by Canis44

Vengeance, black powder, tyranny. This is the west, a cruel and merciless world.

A wrenching story told in a range of poetic forms, to be appreciated for both its content and its construction.

:star:

Daedalus Falls (The Fleet Will Remember) by DodgingTheBeat

Daedalus is falling, and hope of victory against humanity's sprawling decadence is falling with her.

In this short story that's aching to be part of something bigger, DodgingTheBeat delivers a scene that you watch as much as read. If you're a fan of sci-fi movies give this a read and start casting the characters.

:star:

astronomy by emilyericson

Is it enough to simply remember what holding something felt like, or must we cling to it forever?

emilyericson takes familiar imagery and puts a whole new meaning on it: of letting go of things you want to keep all to yourself, and how our expectations of other people can be contradicted by self-action/belief.

The Monster of Amber Peace: Chapter 2 (part 2) by TeknicolorTiger

Werewolves are popular creatures for good reason. They can be powerful, barely restrained creatures, and Ben knows this better than most.

This richly descriptive work can be enjoyed in its own right for its well crafted story and superb use of language, but if you're looking for a new ongoing story to read in 2013 then TeknicolorTiger's The Monster of Amber Peace is definitely one to consider.
