Every week, we collect and feature some of the outstanding submissions to our gallery.

Each item is hand-picked by our admins, and presented with a small introduction to make browsing easier. Here we offer you a selection of interesting, quality work for your appreciation and encouragement.

Welcome everyone, to the end of 2014. It's been a long year, in some ways, and a far too short one in others. We at WritersInk wish you a safe and happy holiday season. For those of you in the north, enjoy your winter and go build a snowman. For those of you in the south, I'll see you at the beach.

This will be the last Round-up for 2014, with the next edition being posted in the new year, January 5.

Before we go, I'll leave you with some words from Neil Gaiman:

I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes.

Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You're doing things you've never done before, and more importantly, you're Doing Something.

So that's my wish for you, and all of us, and my wish for myself. Make New Mistakes. Make glorious, amazing mistakes. Make mistakes nobody's ever made before. Don't freeze, don't stop, don't worry that it isn't good enough, or it isn't perfect, whatever it is: art, or love, or work or family or life.

Whatever it is you're scared of doing, Do it.

Make your mistakes, next year and forever.
