Every week, we collect and feature the outstanding submissions to our gallery. If you're looking for quality literature to read, start here!

Each item is hand-picked by our admins and presented with a small introduction (we think this makes browsing literature easier). We don't seek perfection: we just choose interesting work and share it for critique, appreciation and encouragement.

Greetings, Inkhearts!  This week, WritersInk brings you intrigue and superheros, as well as some wonderful news!

Stay tuned after the features for information regarding a future Critique Chat as well as a little change to the group features.

This Week's Highlights!

Dust Devil by TheTerrorOfTheDeep

"After I broke, I spent time wrapped in my bed sheets on the floor.... I did two things during that time."

A rivetting tale about a controversial relationship, TheTerrorOfTheDeep reminds us that love is a dangerous thing.

Secrets - A Dark Flame Story by mirz333

In a world where super heroes work in offices and schools by day and walk the mean streets of Gale City by night, a young boy finds himself habouring secret aspirations.

Billy idolizes the superhero crime fighters in his city. When he was kidnapped by the Masher, he finally had a chance to meet them... only to realize they were not what they seemed. This short story should really appeal to fans of the Watchmen graphic novel.

Between the Lines by DreamAmongStars

You dare think / you can use me.

This is a simple poem that isn't so simple.  It twines two voices together, creating not one, but two different readings.

Moan of Arc by laurotica

Sci-fi meets Christianity in this sombre, spooky tale.

You might be forgiven for thinking that this is a straight story of Christianity - the old "priest meets God-the-actual-God". But that's just because laurotica has pitched the tone of the narrative just right to keep it convincing. When the twist comes, you'll be glad you stopped by.

Critique Chat Event!

Following the small-scale but hugely rewarding success of our previous chat event, WritersInk is announcing another one! As the Americans got the best deal last time, we've tried to pitch this one towards our European and Asian members.

The chat will be held on Saturday 10th March at 1PM GMT.

We'll be running the same arrangement as the previous event, look here to see how it works (ignore the advanced critique pieces, though, those were discussed in the last event). If you'd like one of your pieces to be discussing during the event, please send monstroooo a note. We'll publish a dedicated blog closer to the time.

Community News

:bulletblack: We've updated our home page! We've now got a nice big welcoming banner with friendly, accessibly links to the chatroom, rules, writing resources and Writer of the Month archives. Sadly, we'll be phasing out the Writer of the Month feature soon. The Weekly Roundup has taken its place on the homepage, helping our featured items get more exposure.

We're still committed to rewarding the members who make this group a special place. We'll be doing that through more frequent features in the Roundups. Hopefully that will let us spread more love without our members feeling like they're being given a reading list every month!

:bulletblack: Congratulations to community friend PursuingTheCerberus for receiving a DLD on his poem Star Swallower. As he told us in this interview, it's one of his personal favourites, so we're just pleased as peach juice to see it do so well!

:bulletblack: Have you received a DD or DLD this week for a piece in our gallery? Send monstroooo a note and we'll feature you in this space!

:bulletblack: Finally, the Word Wars Chat Tour is back! The tour is heading to theWrittenRevolution on Saturday 3rd March. There's a Super Secret Prize of Super Awesome up for grabs - so if you're not joined the Wars yet, maybe this is the time!

Really enjoy reading the work in every roundup and like to leave comments where I can.
And...
'Breathlessly' (except I'm breathing) awaiting more news about #WritersInk Chat Event.
Still haven't figured out what time I need to be there, from the GMT time posted.
Gah. Google? Anyone can tell me what time 1:00 pm GMT is for the west coast of the USA? Thanks ^^;
